In the same summer, an immigration officer said “Welcome back home” upon returning from a trip to S. Korea and someone yelled at me “get the fuck out” in Pullman, where I lived. To express my experience, I chose the idea of luck and its association with Asianness, making a short video that included a field recording of an Asian-themed slot machine along with a visual representation of a slot machine randomizing the words in the above two phrases.
